The world has finally started taking notice of Global Warming, and threat it poses to humanity. The ridiculous groups that insist that the whole thing is a host are starting to fade away, and more companies are taking steps to enter into a new, more responsible, world.
But it is in the auto industry that this is starting to really be seen, and Honda is leading the pack with the creation of their new hybrid models of old standby cars that have begun production. These are the hybrid Fit, and a new type of sports car, called the CR-Z.
Both are due out in 2010, and are expected to revolutionize the way people look at hybrids. They are also expected to increase the sales of such vehicles, which are made to work using electricity and gasoline, but greatly reduce the amount of crude oil needed to power cars.
These are, obviously, only the first tentative steps in modernizing such technology. It will be years until truly efficient automobiles are created to run without any crude oil. But the significance of these hybrids from such a popular automaker is hard to ignore.
We are finally on the right track, and the implications for the environment, as well as the political and economic world, are staggering.
